Planting in the open

Dig out a 25-40cm thick layer of soil and replace it with soil for rhododendrons. The planting hole should be about 4 times larger than the roots of the plant to be planted. Place the plant in the hole and add new soil. Press the soil firmly around the plant and water thoroughly.

Pot planting

Take a 2-4 cm larger flower pot to transplant the plant. Make a drainage layer of gravel on the bottom of the pot. Sprinkle a little rhododendron soil on the drainage layer and place the plant there. Keep the roots of the plant in the middle of the pot and fill the entire container with soil. Press the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.

For previously planted plants, it is recommended to add a 5-10 cm thick layer of new rhododendron soil every spring and press it firmly.

Recommendations

• Don't forget to fertilize your plants. The plants should be fertilized 4 weeks after planting. Use a fertilizer specifically for rhododendrons.
• Sprinkle the leaves around the plant for the winter, as the roots of the rhododendrons are not very long and the plants may feel dehydrated during the winter cold.
