Graphite electrode with nickel and iron core. Designed for cold welding of cast iron, (forged) gray iron and cast iron / steel fittings.
The ferronickel bimetallic core (lower electrical resistance) ensures higher welding speeds and high melting efficiencies and the risk of overheating the cast iron is lower.
The weld is machinable. It is recommended to use as thin an electrode as possible and a weak welding current.
It is recommended to treat the weld pool with a hammer immediately after each pass to reduce internal stresses - the cause of possible cracks.
Therefore, the entire length of the electrode can be used.
Suitable for both DC and AC. Suitable for welding all gray cast iron and for joining cast iron with steel, especially spheroidal graphite cast iron (ductile iron).
The weld metal is very similar in color to the base material and the corrosion is also identical to the base material.
The electrode stands out for its excellent crack resistance and high strength of the weld metal. Even clean weld material is workable.
Welding:
Before sanding, completely clean the welding area of oil, scaling, etc. dirt.
When welding cast iron, the heat input must be as low as possible (low current welding).
The suture must not be wider than twice the diameter of the electrode core and no more than ten times the diameter of the electrode core.
Preheating to 300 oC and slow cooling is recommended.
To achieve good throughput and smooth flow of weld metal, it is recommended to weld with counter-polar direct current (DC +).
The best crack resistance is obtained by AC welding. The constant change in polarity ensures a smooth, smooth seam,
which is important for castings that are difficult to weld.
The sealed container is stable indefinitely at a temperature between 10 and 40 degrees and a relative humidity of less than 80%.
